Mostly photos this post…snow along the road on the way up/ Pine Creek coming into Spalding/ Launch ramp showing water level/ Dog run-picnic area/ Highway A1 water everywhere, flowing well with meadows visible thru the trees/ Existing burn area after last year’s fire/ Pelicans waiting for fish @ Pine Creek/ The view from the egg take station/ Egg take station itself/ Sep taking photos and, finally heading home, showing water level on Hwy. 139 with snowy hills in the background. And, the boys on the deck, enjoying the sunshine!

A nice time to be up at Eagle Lake! Snow is melting and not only are the usual streams running well, there are many more streams, all doing one thing…taking the melting runoff down into the lake. A great thing to see and knowing this will continue for some time makes it even better! The scenery is spectacular on Hwy.A1 with green meadows visible through the trees. The big fire last fall left scarred trees and burned vegetation but it is obvious that re-growth is happening all over the place. Water levels in the lake are impressive and certainly launching boats at Spalding, especially smaller boats, will happen this year. Docks are currently being put into place by the Spalding Community Services District.

Eagle Lake will open to fishing – which should be spectacular – on Saturday May 25, Memorial Day weekend. If you’re making plans, be sure to make them early! Spalding will be a busy town with hard-core anglers hoping to catch a trophy of a lifetime, and lots of folks with boats, wives, kids, dogs, bikes, ATVs, etc. Info: Heritage Land @ 530.825.2131, eaglelakeheritage.com.

Optimism is high – Eagle is getting ready to soar! The lake level will continue to rise and fishing opportunities will be exceptional. Plus it’s truly a nice place to visit. Put this destination on your “must do” list of things to do…soon!
