Eagle Lake 10 14 2020

Pictures don’t lie! We got ourselves up to Eagle Lake and are certainly glad we did! Spalding Tract, the small settlement in northeastern California, on the shore of Eagle Lake, is through with this year’s trying times and welcomed us back. The Brittanys, Shooter and Gunner, loved running through the trees.

Our Cabin on the main street is in great shape, other than pine needles, dust, cobwebs and the usual iron-colored water, that we eventually fixed. The sun shone, the sky is blue and the air is clean! What a treat! The other part of the “treat” is the visit we had with Cliff and Shirley Spediacci, the town’s Fire Chief and EMT. As residents of Solano county, we’ve been pretty much pandemic quarantined for the past eight-plus months so socializing with good friends was timely and therapeutic. We actually had dinner with them…in their home! We saw local real estate guru David LeRoy, had a good visit with Bob and Marla Smalley and made the most out of our quick visit.

Sep accepted an invite from Tim Noxon, Fish Traveler Guide Service, and went fishing on Tuesday morning. Tim launched his boat on the ramp at the south end as the water is too low in Spalding. It wasn’t busy, a cool morning but the weather was good and the lake was calm. They caught fish…not real big, but feisty and healthy…a welcome break in the great outdoors!

We are looking forward to returning to Eagle Lake soon. Things are very good – no sign of Covid and no masks. Originally, we were hesitant to go into an area that might cause a problem but it was quite the reverse. We both enjoyed the break and returned home, feeling refreshed and revitalized. The “feel good” continues to last and we’re back to the routine tomorrow, Saturday morning…KHTK 1140 California Sportsmen Radio Show, 6-8AM.
