Blog - The Reel Magic, Bodega Bay - August 31, 2020

Make a plan…& keep it! The guys who worked this out, totally enjoyed the day on the water! The invite came from Captain Merlin Kolb & his partner, Mike Aughney, who made the Reel Magic available to Sep & Kent, plus Richard Burton & Stafford Lehr. They met at the boat in Bodega Bay at 7:00AM and headed out shortly after.

One thing about a good captain…& his partner…breakfast burritos were also on board, making the jaunt out to the fishing area, enjoyable. The Reel Magic, a 6-pack catamaran, is accommodating & comfortable, providing plenty of room for anglers.

After a short cruise, lines were dropped & the hunt for Salmon began. After trolling for a couple of hours with action on the “quiet side”, lines were picked up & the boat headed to the Russian River area. Action for Rockfish was quick & steady & limits for all resulted.

Captain Kolb turned the boat around & headed back to the Salmon area…things had changed from earlier in the day…a fish per rod was the result. Richard was happy - his first Salmon ever! All this action kept an expert deckhand, Westly. busy!!

The boat & guys headed in after a great day – plenty of fish for all on board. And, looking forward to doing it again, soon!
