This week the MLF Bass Pro Tour are on Smith Lake. There have been some records & some last second heroics. We chase a few of the guys during their off day – never know who we may track down. The Bassmaster Elites are on Lake Fork in Texas & the weights are huge & a couple of our Western guys are setting the bar high. The FLW Tour is on the water too & we’ll keep an eye on our Western guys.

When the scales closed last week on the WWBT Delta Pro Am, NICK NOUROT took home the big check & the trophy by just ounces over Ken Mah. We hook up with Nick live to talk about how he managed to weigh the top weight after three days on the Delta…being consistent was tough for many of the anglers.

GARY BRADFORD from FLW joins us for some last minute encouragement to get everyone signed up for the Costa Series @ Clear Lake, May 16-18 out of Konocti Vista Casino. Along with the Costa, they will also have the College Tournament & the High School Championship on Sunday.

Next week, anglers representing every State in the West will hit Lake Shasta for the B.A.S.S. Nation Western Regionals. HANK WELDON joins us to talk about the event & how this is one of the steps to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic in 2020. Shasta is nearly full & the fishing is wide open.

GET A CLUE – During Spring, wildlife are busy attending to their new offspring, foraging for food & expanding habitat. During this season, CDFW reminds us to leave young wildlife alone if they see them outdoors. Improper handling is a problem across the nation & in California, it’s illegal to keep wildlife as pets.

Never assume when you see them alone that they need help. Probably the mother is simply out foraging for food and a healthy fawn may lay or stand by itself in one location for hours when its mother is away. Once you remove it, it can lose the ability to survive & this applies to most animals including bears, coyotes, raccoons and most birds.

GET A CLUE – if you care, leave them there!

ANGLER SURVEY - GET YOUR FISHING DATA – kokanee & landlocked king salmon – directly to CDFW…easily! More efficient than sending reports, or talking to a CDFW person at a launch ramp, simply enter the app address on your iphone – HTTPS://bit.ly/Kokesandkings - & email info directly to CDFW. OR…even simpler – go to CIFFI.org…hit the tab, or iphone picture the QR code, then enter the info & you’re DONE! Tremendously important info will be gathered, evaluated & become instrumental to egg-take, seasonal plantings & management of lakes & reservoirs!!

REMINDER – non-lead shot required when taking upland game birds with a shotgun…except for dove, quail & game birds taken at licensed clubs. Also applies when using a shotgun to take small game mammals and any wildlife for depredation purposes. Next phase goes into effect July 1, 2019 when hunters must use nonlead ammo when taking any animal anywhere in the state for any purpose.
